- Accumulator
- Another term for a parlay where multiple selections are combined; all must be correct for a payout.
- American Odds
- Odds expressed as a positive or negative number; positive shows profit on a $100 bet, negative shows amount needed to win $100.
- Arbitrage
- Placing bets on all possible outcomes of an event across different bookmakers to guarantee a profit regardless of the result.
- Asian Handicap
- A spread betting system that eliminates the draw outcome by giving one team a fractional or whole goal advantage or disadvantage.
- Bankroll Management
- The practice of setting a budget for betting and allocating a small percentage of that budget to each wager to minimize risk.
- Bookmaker Margin
- The built-in advantage a bookmaker has in each market, often expressed as a percentage of the total odds.
- Cash Out
- An option to settle a bet before the event ends, either locking in a profit or limiting a loss based on the current score.
- Decimal Odds
- A number that represents the total return per unit staked, including the original stake (e.g., 2.50 means $2.50 profit per $1 bet).
- Fractional Odds
- Odds expressed as a fraction (e.g., 5/2) showing profit relative to the stake (5 units profit for every 2 units wagered).
- Futures
- A bet placed on the outcome of a tournament or award before it concludes, such as predicting the World Cup winner months in advance.
- In-Play Betting
- Placing or changing a bet after the match has started, with odds that update as the game progresses.
- Kelly Criterion
- A mathematical formula that calculates the optimal fraction of your bankroll to wager based on the perceived edge.
- KYC (Know Your Customer)
- The process of verifying a bettor’s identity and age to comply with legal regulations and prevent fraud.
- Line Movement
- The change in odds or point spread over time, often caused by betting volume, injuries, or weather.
- Moneyline
- A bet on which team will win the match outright, with odds shown as a positive or negative number.
